“A place of dreams” – Niki de Saint Phalle’s Tarot Garden
9 July 2021 @ 8:00 - 3 November 2021 @ 17:00
Capalbio has decided to celebrate the artist Niki de Saint Phalle, the creator of the famous Tarot Garden, with a contemporary art exhibition dedicated to the sculptor and her artistic relationship with Italy. Lucia Pesapane, the editor, is a scholar of Niki de Saint Phalle and a great promoter of the work of women artists. She has decided to create a widespread exhibition that will take place in the Garden, Palazzo Collacchioni and Galleria Il Frantoio, where more than 100 works will be displayed – sculptures, drawings, videos and photographs, some of which have never been seen before. The artist will also be celebrated at the same time at the MoMA in New York, thus highlighting the importance of art as a vehicle for building an image of social cohesion and unity. Sharing, collaboration and synergy are the values that distinguish the character of Niki de Saint Phalle, who has always fought for gender equality and the recognition of female strength and power. All these themes are evident in the eccentric works contained within the famous Maremma park, a surreal place that represents the greatest work of Niki de Saint Phalle, a woman and a visionary artist, but at the same time very attentive to contemporary issues.
The exhibition will open to the public from 9 July to 3 November 2021, and Capalbio and its entire community are thrilled and honoured to host such a great event.
