Feniglia Reserve Ring Route

One of the most attractive cycling itineraries that this territory can offer is the ring route of the Feniglia Reserve, where to spend a wonderful day cycling though nature and history. It extends over 26 km surrounding the entire lagoon, Laguna di Levante.

The ring-route starts in Poggio Pertuso, in Orbetello, easily reachable by car or or by public transport from Capalbio. After only 7 km of cycling you will reach your first stop: Villa Romana, a very beautiful and suggestive imperial villa and one of the main highlights of this cycling route. Enjoy a visit inside.

Continuing for 9 km all straight, you will be surrounded by the enchanting Feniglia Nature Reserve, a dune (or tombolo) that separates the Tyrrhenian Sea from the Lagoon of Orbetello, easily accessible by bike. Continuing on, 6 km of unpaved road awaits you, to be covered under the shade of a thick vegetation of maritime pines and Mediterranean scrub.

Once you cross this long stretch of wilderness, you will reach the center of the Lagoon of Orbetello. Pedal along the dam that divides the lagoon into the two bodies of water of Levante and Ponente enjoying a breathtaking view. Finally, follow the last 10 km that will take you back to the starting point to complete the itinerary.

This route is suitable for any type of cyclists, from beginner to expert. Children can also be involved in this fantastic experience. The itinerary is feasible independently and with your own bicycles as the roads are mostly paved.
