Among the cycling itineraries that you can enjoy on this territory there is the itinerary at the mouth of the Albegna river, a route is also suitable for children and beginners.
The starting point of the tour is the Albinia station, located just a 22-minute drive from Capalbio. The first stop of this long 50 km ride is the mouth of the Albegna River, whose territory has been declared a protected area to try to maintain a habitat as uncontaminated as possible in which important species of wild birds can breed in total tranquility.
Leave this enchanting naturalistic environment behind and set out on your way back to Porto Santo Stefano, a renowned seaside resort that is only 16 km from the mouth of the Albegna river. You will ride on the seafront of the old port, a very beautiful and suggestive place where you can enjoy an excellent ice cream and a spectacular view of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The itinerary continues for 18 km through a fantastic bike path characterized by wonderful tunnels and glimpses of the sea. This stretch of cycle path follows the route of the former Argentario railway that once connected Orbetello Scalo to Porto Santo Stefano. The tunnels converted for pedestrian cycle use are still well preserved. To complete the route and return to the starting point you will have to cross the Lagoon of Orbetello, passing through the city center and enjoying a splendid view towards the Lagoon of Ponente.
