The nature of Capalbio
Capalbio and the Maremma region offer one of the greenest landscapes of Tuscany. Its natural areas include the coastal dunes rich in vegetation, a succession of scenery and colors ranging from the hills to the flat areas.
The several outdoor activities proposed offer a wide range of routes suitable for trekking, mountain biking or horseback riding. If you love to walk and be surrounded by nature you cannot miss the thick woods, where, during your excursions, it will not be difficult to listen to the call of the jay or that of the European green woodpecker perched on the tops of the holm oaks.
After a day at the beach, near the sea you can rest in the shade of pine trees in the wonderful Duna di Feniglia nature reserve, an ideal place to jog or cycle in the middle of the greenery or even to join an excursion, and if you are lucky enough you could meet the fellow deer, friendly inhabitants of this reserve; if, on the other hand, you venture cautiously in the woods, you may also see wild boars, foxes and badgers.
The whole area, being of marshy origin, still enjoys numerous streams: there are 76 of them and among these the most important is the Chiarone since it delimits a part of the border between Tuscany and Lazio. There are also three important lakes including Lake Burano, a nature reserve and a unique protected area for its biodiversity, an ideal place to birdwatch.
What awaits you it is a land that has been able to create a perfect balance between nature and man; living here in harmony and where there are several small ecosystems in which fauna and flora reign undisturbed. In Capalbio, particular attention is paid to the environment and respect for nature, without excluding the enjoyment of nature as long as it is done in a sustainable way
